Edgar Allan Poe

Considered the father of the modern detective story and one of the greatest North American authors who ever lived, Edgar Allan Poe was also an exceptional poet, editor and literary critic.
Born in 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts, Poe wrote some of the most memorable horror stories in the english language including The Cask of Amontillado, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Masque of the Red Death and Berenice, the latter of which is being adapted for the Creepers horror anthology movie by filmmaker Jeremiah Kipp.
